Climate action should begin with the people experiencing climate change
Across the world, communities are already experiencing changing rainfall patterns, prolonged droughts, flooding, crop losses, ecosystem degradation, water insecurity, displacement, and growing pressure on livelihoods.
Important experiences remain undocumented
Communities observe climate impacts in their farms, water sources, homes, businesses, and ecosystems. Much of this information never reaches structured databases or policy processes.
Climate information is difficult to navigate
Relevant evidence may be scattered across government portals, research reports, development projects, organizational databases, and PDF documents.
Those most affected are not always heard
Women, young people, smallholder farmers, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, informal workers, and remote communities may be underrepresented in climate research and decision-making.
Technical information does not always reach the public
Climate commitments and reports can be difficult to understand, especially when they are written for specialist audiences or published in inaccessible formats.
Communities rarely see how their information is used
People may provide data without receiving meaningful feedback about the findings, decisions, or policies informed by their participation.
Commitments can be difficult to track
Without accessible information, communities and civil society organizations may struggle to assess whether climate promises are being implemented.
